Understated and Bespoke: Designs VP Taking a Different Approach to the Campaign

It’s cool to start a Facebook event page to outline your policies. Maybe you’ll explain why you, of all people, are best suited for the role you want; maybe you’ll rope in that person you sat with once in a Torts tutorial, and convince them to vote for you. You know what’s cooler, though? Going completely incognito, disguising yourself with the nom de plume of “NO NOMINATIONS RECEIVED,” and leaving the entire LS deducing your identity as if they’re Benedict Cumberbatch in BBC’s Sherlock (2012).

Frankly, we’re amazed not only by how anonymous the Designs VP contenders have been this year, but also by their commitment to keeping their campaign under wraps until the AGM. No loose lips have leaked the names of any LS students who have Canva Pro and a dream. Hell, no one’s even batted an eye at the Obiter’s threat to run for the portfolio. It takes incredible dedication to maintain this level of silence, especially upon witnessing our horrible, eyestrain-inducing beautiful creations on MS Paint and PowerPoint.

We here at the Obiter cannot wait to see our contenders for the very first time at the AGM, in the really elusive Otto Hirschfeld lecture theatre, at 10:00 am next Tuesday.

Hopefully, a Designs VP to come.
